PADI Dive Master Course: Becoming A Professional Dive Instructor

You may want to work towards a full PADI accredited Instructor qualification, which will allow you to lead groups of divers and students, and to supervise Dive Masters.  There are a number of new professional challenges that you can take on after you have obtained your first professional level qualification as a Dive Master. Each new qualification will allow you to take on more teaching responsibilities. The next step up from a Dive Master is an Assistant Instructor. From there, you could go on to become an Instructor, perhaps choosing a particular type of diving activity in which to specialize. IF you continue your training, you may become a Master Instructor, or even a Course Director- the highest level of professional PADI accreditation.

If you are interested in a particular aspect of diving, such as underwater photography or marine wildlife, then you may prefer to focus your career on this, rather than aiming to be an Instructor. Obtaining Instructor certification will still be a useful part of your professional development, but you should also consider taking specialist courses accredited by PADI, or even looking for other related qualification, such as taking a college course in marine biology or training as an underwater camera operator or photographer. You could also find jobs in marine conservation or research.

Being a professional diving instructor is the sort of job that most people only dream of doing. Once you have qualified as a professional Dive Master you will be able to assist Instructors and even lead some groups of learners and experienced divers by yourself. You new qualification will allow you to search for employment at a PADI diving school, a diving resort or boat, or in a diving shop. You may find a job in one of the most beautiful tropical diving spots in the world, or end up teaching divers at your local diving school, but whichever direction your career leads you in, you will fins that working as a diving instructor is an interesting and varied career.
